Since the tornado, the housing market demand in the community has become a serious issue. There are simply not enough houses on the market for renters. In addition to the demand crisis, rent has increased in Newnan 15.9% in the last year, and 1.5% in just the past month. (Source)  As inflation and rent continues to increase across the nation, even options outside of Newnan are limited, especially for single-parent households and elderly members of the community living on fixed incomes.  That is why this project is so necessary. Once it is completed, it will provide two living spaces that we hope will provide not only a safe living situation, but a stepping stone to better financial stability.  It is important for people to have financial investment in their living situation, but we hope to make rent affordable based on income levels of the tenants. We would also like to work towards resources for the tenants to help with budgeting, credit building, and other steps to eventually move on from our affordable housing options into home ownership.
