Winter Break Adventures

Winter Break 2025 did not disappoint! School is important, but having time off from school is equally important so that we can take new adventures and try new things. This winter break we took multiple groups of students on Outdoor Therapy trips, Educational trips, and Mentorship hangouts. It was a great week full exposure to new experiences and we all had a great time doing life together.

Art Museum

One of our grand adventures during winter break was taking a group of our mentorship teenage girls for their first experience at an art museum. The High Museum of Art is a staple in Atlanta and is a great opportunity to expose students to different types of art from different cultures. This was the girls first time going to a museum.  They were able to see pieces from a variety of historical time periods and enjoy how impactful art can be. It was a great day that inspired trying new things and allowing yourself to be surprised by new experiences.

Outdoor Therapy

Breaks from school are a great opportunity for our Outdoor Therapy Program adventures. There is nothing quite as inspiring as getting outside in the sunshine. During winter break we were able to take multiple groups of students to a local residents that has different farming animals and the students were able to enjoy hands on learning. Goats, chickens, and ducks were some of the new friends students were able to meet and they learned what it takes to provide for the animals. The animals were cute and friendly, but the kids also learned that it takes a lot of hard work and responsibility to take care of each animal. Getting students outside and exposed to new ways of learning is a main objective of our Outdoor Therapy Program and we were grateful for these days over winter break.

Mentroship Student Outings

A huge part of our Mentorship Program is simply doing life together. For us, this means spending quality time together doing things that we love. For our girls in the program, this often leads to baking and crafts. In addition to enjoying time together, baking and crafts are great tools to help with different skills.  Measuring ingredients, learning to work together through a step-by-step process, following instructions, and seeing a process completed through hard work, are all skills that can result in life time critical thinking abilities. Extra bonus, its fun, full of laughs, and tastes delicious!
