Fall Favorites
Every season brings different traditions and experiences that we enjoy. Fall is a time for football, pumpkins, and fun times at the Hope Center. This season we have been able to enjoy the new basketball court that has been a huge project we have been working on for over a year. We have also been able to enjoy days in the art room, special mentorship nights, and even a huge life changing event for some of our football players. It has definitely been a season full of some favorite moments.
Football Dreams
Our mission is to help people realize that the dreams that they have can actually become a reality. For us, the moments that we can see that come to fruition are the most inspiring of all. This fall, we have been able to witness two twin brothers see their dreams come true. These brothers have been a part of our Hope family since they were in the 3rd grade, and even interned at the Hope Center this summer. They are seniors in high school and have dedicated their time and effort into accomplishing their goal of playing college football. They have accepted scholarships to play football for Georgia Tech, and this semester we were able to accompany them to the field to see what their future holds. They were able to meet players, walk the field, and watch a game knowing they will be a part of the team after their graduation. Through determination and hard work, their dreams are actually becoming a reality and we could not be more proud. Looking forward to next year and getting to see them on the big field. Congratulations boys!
Hope Center
Cool weather, sunny days, and fun in the art room are always some of our favorite fall things. This school semester the kids have enjoyed being at the center and using the newly renovated basketball court, along with working on new projects in the art room. We have a tradition of painting pumpkins, but this year we took it to the NEXT LEVEL and decided to make our own pumpkins from clay before painting them. The students loved getting their hands dirty and exploring a new medium. Every day is a moment we hope to inspire, equip, and empower our students through little moments and big dreams.
Pumpkin Carving
Student outings with our Mentorship groups are always special. This October we enjoyed having a special girls night with a few of our high school girls cooking together and carving pumpkins for the first time. The night was full of learning new skills (like how to chop cilantro), trying something new, and laughing a whole lot together. Doing life together is how we strive to create lasting bonds with our students so that they can create confidence in themselves to find the solutions they need for the challenges they face.
