Miami for Winter Break 26′
We decided to start the year off right with the first school break of 2026 doing our biggest adventure yet! A group of high school boys from our Mentorship program were able to take a life changing trip to Miami this winter break. In order to go on the trip, they had to work hard on an application, an essay explaining their desires to go on the trip and what benefits they believed they would get from it, and also commit to community service hours. Their hard work paid off! They were able to all board a plane for the very first time, an experience no one forgets, and take off on a week full of inspiring events.
Miami 2026
One big moment on the trip was when the group got to meet up with a successful entrepreneur and hear some great advice; “In Life you don’t have to put your focus on making money all the time, you don’t want to miss out on the special moments that make you better”. “Whatever you do in life; do it with passion, always do the right thing, and never stop serving others… I think this is the recipe for winning”.
– Victor Heredia – Miami Lakes Kia
Taking Students to the paradox Museum and the tower of freedom helped them truly learn that the world is not always what it seems and that many generations of hard work built the country we get to live in.
The rest of the trip consisted of BIG DREAM conversations after spending time on a yacht while seeing the city lights, ocean side villas, and celebrities enjoying their backyards. The four day trip ended in South Miami where the students learned about all the suffering, victory, and sacrifices of the nations that built the great state of Florida. This is where we began a “new conversation” of what TRUE Friendship can look like.
One of the most inspiring tools that we have seen have a huge impact on our students is traveling outside of their environment. Sometimes that is to another city, sometimes to another state. Each adventure we can see the behavioral change along with the mental and emotional change when the students get the opportunity to open their minds and soak in a new environment. First time experiences, trying new foods, and seeing new cultures encourage people to self reflect and realize that the world is bigger than their comfort zone. They were truly inspired, equipped, and empowered this trip to DREAM BIG for their future!
