Jamaica Youth Boys Sports Camp
Being able to help communities abroad as well as at home is one of the main missions of Hope Global Initiative. In July, one of our leaders was able to take a group of volunteers to Jamaica to partner with Spicy Grove Youth Center. The purpose of this trip was to provide an opportunity for locals and volunteers to go through leadership training while enjoying some adventure. Through sports, games, and mentorship, volunteers were able to spend most of their days teaching the youth boys of the local community team building exercises. These exercises not only taught practical skills of communication, team work, and leadership but went a step further into spiritual development of the mind body and soul.
Our international initiatives are very important to our mission because they are an opportunity to reach a multitude of communities through each trip. The communities that we partner with abroad, like the one in Jamaica, allow us to not only help the locals of that community, but to inspire, equip, and empower everyone involved. By opening these trips up to anyone that shares our vision we allow for the volunteers to learn and grow as well as the communities that are being reached. These trips are full of growing, learning, teaching, and having fun while building lasting relationships that can result in long-term changes in a community. When someone sacrifices their time and knowledge to help inspire hope in another individual real results happen. John Spence, International Business Speaker and Author, said it best when he said,”Making one person smile can change the world – maybe not the whole world, but their world.”
If you would like to be a part of our next international initiative, or any other projects locally, please contact us and we will let you know more information on how to get involved.
